Ramblin’ Women: A 101st Birthday Tribute to Hazel Dickens. Join us from 5-8 PM on Sunday, June 7 at @nolabrewing as we celebrate in song the legendary bluegrass and Americana pioneer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, and hero of folk music Hazel Dickens. The no-cover show will feature a multi-generational cadre of incredible local women musicians: Eleanor Ellis, Ashley Hooper, Michelle Landry, Christina Nakajima, Lisa Mae O’Neill, Natalie Mae, Julie Pfeffer, Mathilde Rosi-Marshall, Hazel Schlueter, Valerie St. James, Dusky Waters, and Kelcy Wilburn. We will honor Hazel, who used her songs to fiercely advocate for the rights of women and workers, and celebrate the timeliness of her songs and the power of her music and legacy in our times. Come on out and join us, y’all!
We are grateful to our sponsors @bluegrasspride and Delta Hayride (@bayoubluegrass.fest) for helping to make this show possible!
